A Not-So-Fun Chapter in My Life…
I was encouraged by my employer to call ConnectCare3. I was re-diagnosed with breast cancer in February, 2011. I already had confidence in my oncology surgeon from my fist diagnosis in 2004, however, needed some guidance when it came to choosing a surgeon for reconstructive surgery.
A nurse from ConnectCare3 prepared questions for me to ask the surgeon and attended the appointment with me and my family. The list of questions was very inclusive, and I doubt that I would have thought to ask such specific questions. Within 24 hours, I received a written summary of all the questions and answers that were discussed with the surgeon. This was very helpful to me and my family. It was all written in language I could understand. I found myself re-reading it several times prior to my surgery. I surely would have forgotten most of what was said during my consultation with the surgeon, but having it in writing empowered me with the knowledge and confidence I needed.
In preparation for the surgical procedure that was required, the Patient Advocate at ConnectCare3 verified that the procedure would be covered under my insurance plan.
I also had to have follow-up medical treatment and the nurse from ConnectCare3 helped me understand what to expect. I always felt that I had a professional and knowledgeable resource by my side that was available whenever I needed her. Communication with the nurse was so convenient. Not only was she always accessible to me, she was warm and compassionate during each conversation. I am very grateful for the service and glad that my employer encouraged me to call ConnectCare3.
